April Favourites

April Favourites flatlay colourpop blithe neogen

It has been quite a while since I last posted a monthly favourites on my blog (*coughs* 2017), so thought I was due in for one! I’m going to try to get back to a schedule and posting more regularly again soon. So here’s my favourites for April.

April Favourites

Makeup

Colourpop Individual Eyeshadow Palette

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen this Colourpop Palette in a few of my posts. All the shades are very pigmented and blendable. Firstly is ‘Hear Me Out’, a matte light peach that works as a great base shade. Next up is my fave shade of the bunch, ‘Ringer’, a metallic champagne gold that is a beautiful highlight shade perfect for the inner corners of the eyes or the brow bone area.  A little bit of ‘Ringer’ goes along way to brighten up the eyes. Next is ‘Come and Get It’, a gorgeous duochrome pink rose shade with gold flip, pictures really don’t do it justice as it is so beautiful in person! I love to use this on the outer 3rd of my eyelids to add a pop of colour. Lastly, I like to use the shade ‘Boxer’, a metallic deep bronze to build up some depth by blending a little of this from the outer corners of the eyelid inwards.

AprilSkin Magic Snow Cushion 2.0 in #23

The AprilSkin Magic Snow Cushion has been my go-to cushion for the past few months. I love that it has a medium buildable coverage but still looks super natural on the skin .The shade matches my skin perfectly and gives a nice flawless finish.

Skincare

Blithe Green Tea Splash Mask

The Blithe Green Tea Splash Mask has been something I’ve been eyeing for quite a long time and finally decided to try it out. I’m so glad I did as it really has become an essential in my night time skincare routine and I am planning to buy a backup bottle ASAP. The splash mask has definitely helped to calm and soothe my skin. I’ll be doing a full review of this later this month.

October Favourites

October Favourites
November is here, Christmas is just around the corner and it’s almost the end of 2017! I know it seems like I say this A LOT but really, wow this  year has flown by! I didn’t post a monthly favourites for September so this October favourites will be a combination of both months.

These past couple months have been very eventful for me. One of the highlights of these past two months would have to be in September when I went to KCON Australia 2017! KCON was an exciting, fun and memorable two days as I got to see lots of great artists perform live including some of my favourites such as Wanna One, Monsta X, EXO and more. I was also lucky enough to get the opportunity to get hi-touch passes for two artists I most wanted to see – Wanna One and Monsta X. It definitely was an unforgettable and unique experience that I was very fortunate to have and will never forget!

Anyways, enough with the catchup for the past few months…Now time for my monthly favourites.

Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion

Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion

I actually received this Cosrx cushion from StyleKorean a few months ago to test and review. And, I’ve been enjoying using this ever since I started using it because it has amazing coverage. With the weather warming up here in Sydney and Summer just a few weeks away, this cushion has been the one I’ve been reaching for the most! A light application of this cushion evens out my skin tone well and has a matte finish. I posted a full review of this cushion in September, you can read more here.

Skincare

Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream

Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream

I’ve been using this eye cream for a couple of months now and realised how much I love it. Innisfree is definitely one of my fave skincare brands since they make great affordable products, and the Orchid Eye Cream doesn’t disappoint. I also loved the Orchid Enriched Cream from the same line, which was in a previous monthly favourites. This tub comes with a generous 30mL of eye cream which may not sound like a lot, but believe me a little of this cream goes a long way so will definitely last a while! The cream has a nice floral scent that isn’t too strong and leaves the skin around my eyes feeling smooth, soft and moisturised.

Clinique Pep Start Double Bubble Purifying Mask

Clinique Double Bubble Purifying Mask

This mask has been great for me on days when I want a full skincare routine without all the effort. This bubble mask is a pretty pink colour that bubbles up to a white foam once applied to the face. When the masks begins bubbling up there is a slightly ticklish sensation that is a little strange at first but not unpleasant. The awesome thing about this mask is that it only needs 2 minutes to take effect and for the bubbles to fully form. Once rinsed away my skin felt soft, smooth and refreshed. I then followed with the rest of my usual skincare routine. It’s such a perfect no-fuss, quick and easy mask that requires little effort which I love!

Son & Park Beauty Water

Son and Park Beauty Water

I decided to finally try out this much raved about Son & Park Beauty Water. It is a multipurpose toner that also doubles as a cleansing water. The Beauty Water helps to cleanse, exfoliate and also moisturise the skin gently without the use of any harmful ingredients. I love that it is so gentle yet cleanses and tones my skin well to leave it feeling moisturised and refreshed.

Review: Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion

Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion Review

Last month StyleKorean had a ‘Try and review’ giveaway to test out the new Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion, and I was lucky enough to get chosen.  I was happy to have gotten this opportunity to test out this new product as I have a tried and loved many Cosrx products. So here is my thoughts on this new cushion.

What is the Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion?

The Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion is a cushion type foundation that is meant to conceal skin concerns effectively. It contains Centella Asiatica Extract that relaxes and soothes the skin so is safe for those with sensitive skin or those with skin concerns. The formula also has SPF47 UVB/UVA sunscreen so it protects your skin from harmful sunrays. The cushion contains 15 grams of product and comes in 2 shades – #21 Light Beige and #23 Natural Beige.

Review Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion Case

Packaging

The cushion case is matte black and square-shaped with the product name printed in a clear gloss. I really liked the simple and minimal design of the case. The cushion puff matches this monotone colour scheme and is grey coloured with the brand name ‘Cosrx’ printed across the band. One thing I found weird is that the sponge for my cushion was popping up in the centre to make a little mountain which meant whenever I opened it there was always some product transferred to the lid.

Review Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion Puff

Formula & coverage

I got the Clear Fit Blemish Cushion in the darker shade #23 Natural Beige since Summer is coming up here in Australia and I sometimes get a little tanner. When I initially swatched this shade on my hand I was a little worried as it has a yellow/orange tinge and looked quite unnatural. Strangely enough, the swatch didn’t look great on my hand but once applied to my face it suited my skin tone well. Once I blended the product in to my skin it looked natural and evened out my skin. The Clear Fit cushion has a matte finish which is perfect for those with oily or combination skin and for use during Summer time.

Review Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion Sponge

In terms of coverage, it has a medium to high coverage that is very buildable without looking too cakey, as long as you apply in thin layers.  I found that after applying one thin layer it had evened out my skin tone and covered up most of my blemishes and redness. I also tested with applying a thicker layer and it looked quite cakey and unnatural. A little product really goes a long way with this cushion so make sure to apply it with a light hand and layer as required. When using this cushion I usually just like to apply one thin layer all over my face then just lightly touch up some areas that needed extra coverage rather than applying a full second layer. I think the coverage of this cushion is high enough that even without the use of concealer my skin looked almost flawless since it concealed my dark circles and blemishes well.

Review Cosrx Clear Fit Blemish Cushion Half Hand Swatches

The texture felt quite creamy and thick but once blended well into the skin it doesn’t feel too heavy. This cushion isn’t particularly moisturising so can make dry patches on the skin more obvious so is better suited to those with oily or combination skin and not for those with drier skin. Without using powder to set the product, after around 4 hours there was some slight shiny patches on my T-zone but nothing to drastically oily and a light powdering can’t fix. When setting with a powder just on the T-Zone there was barely any oily shine after 5 hours. I wouldn’t recommend setting powder all over the face but just the T-Zone area since the cushion already has a matte finish. My cheeks tend to be a little drier than the rest of my face so I found that when I powdered my whole face it looked a little cakey and dry.

August Favourites

August Favourites flatlay

September is finally here, which means it’s a new season! It’s officially Spring here in Sydney and I’m definitely excited for the warmer weather! So, as it’s a new month, it mean it’s also time for a new monthly favourites. Here were my favourites for the month of August.

Makeup

Peri Pera Lip Ink 2017 Limited Edition in #4 Bang Rose

To be honest, I only bought this Lip Ink because I was suckered into the cute packaging. But, even though I only bought this because of the packaging I ended up really liking it. The Lip Ink lasts a long time as it stains the lips so even after eating or drinking the colour still remains. This was a Limited Edition for 2017 – year of the rooster – which happened to be my Chinese horoscope so I couldn’t resist not buying one. I love that it comes with the cute little rooster cap attachment as it just makes the lip ink so much more fun and adorable.

Peri Pera Lip Ink Limited Edition 2017

The colour is a pretty, bright and vibrant pink-ish red but applied on my lips looks like a magenta shade. I usually prefer nude lip shades and don’t go for bright colours but I was surprised how much I liked this colour. It is a very fun and eye-catching shade, and makes for a good statement lip that isn’t too over the top and is still very wearable. I like that it wasn’t drying on the lips, as I find with many long-lasting lip products the formula can be very drying and make your lips look patchy. Also, a bonus is that it has a really yummy sweet smell, just like candy!

Colourpop Crystal Lip Balm in Amethyst

When I saw Colourpop releasing a range of pretty crystal themed products, I was definitely very interested. I bought this Lip Balm in two shades –  Amethyst and Rose Quartz as the swatches looked very pretty and the most wearable. I preferred the Amethyst one as my favourite colour is purple and it has a beautiful pinkish purple shimmer. I liked pairing the Amethyst Lip Balm with the Peri Pera Lip Ink I mentioned above as they matched together really nicely and gave a pretty opalescent finish. I like how this Crystal Lip Balm can give a new look to any lipstick or tint you have by just simply applying it over the top. The lip balm gives a pretty opalescent shimmer that is not too over the top and very wearable, even in the day time. The Amethyst balm also has a yummy sweet and fruity smell.

Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream

I finally tried out using this Centella Blemish Cream in August and was wondering why I didn’t start using this earlier! I love how much it helped to calm angry pimples and heal them without scarring. I really like the formula for this cream as it is very gentle and doesn’t dry out my skin like a lot of pimple and acne treatment creams available. I’ll be sure to post up a full review of this sometime.

Review: No Make No Life August Subscription Box

No Make No Life August Box Flatlay

No Make No Life (NMNL) is a Tokyo-based subscription box that delivers a monthly boxes of beauty related products. This company is behind the Tokyo Treat and Yume Twins subscription boxes. The team from No Make No Life aim to curate and deliver high-quality and unique Japanese beauty products to improve your daily beauty routine. Each month’s box of goodies are sent out in a simple black cardboard box with the brand initials “nmnl” printed on the top. I have now been subscribed to the No Make No Like boxes for a few months and enjoyed discovering what new things are inside.

So let’s take a look at what was inside the August box.

Hada Bijin Tofu Soap

Hada Bijin Tofu Soap

This soap is packaged to look like a freshly made tofu in a little basket that also serves as a soap dish. A foaming net is included to help you create the perfect bubbly lather every time. This tofu soap, like the name suggests, includes ingredients that are used in the tofu-making process such as soybean extract and bittern that are meant to have moisturising properties. The Hada Bijin Tofu Soap also contains extracts of apricot seed, yuzu fruit and polyglutamic acid to retain the moisture in the skin. I don’t usually use soap and am more of a body wash person so wasn’t as interested with this addition in this month’s box but I do like the fun packaging and the ingredient lists does intrigue me.

Lassic Creamy Mint Body Massage Milk

Lassic Creamy Mint Body Massage Milk

The Lassic Creamy Mint Body Massage Milk has a nice refreshing minty scent that is cooling like menthol. This body milk also doubles as a massage milk. This formula has various skin tightening ingredients such as caffeine and extracts from orange, lemon and bilberry. In addition, it includes the skin nourishing hyaluronic acid. The body milk is lightweight, non-sticky and has a slight cool and tingling sensation when applied to the skin, so would be the perfect body moisturiser for Summer. I actually really like this body milk and was a little unsure when I first read that it was mint scented. I was worried it’d smell like toothpaste but I actually quite enjoy this refreshing scent and the nice cooling feeling it has on my skin. It’s still winter here in Sydney so I’m saving this for use in Summer.

Etude House Dear My Glass Tinting Lips-talk in #GR701 & #12 I Am Your Vitamin Case

I got suckered into buying these cute Etude House Darling Lip Talks lipsticks as the cases were just too cute to resist. My favourite cases were the Fries and Vitamin designs as they are so fun and adorable. I really like that they are customisable and love to mix and match the cases. Apart from the adorable cases, my favourite colour was of course #GR701 – a fun color changing pastel blue lipstick that changes to a soft pink shade upon application. It gives the lips a nice natural pink colour that blends and enhances your natural lip colour so will suit all skin tones and lips! If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this cute lipsticks in some of my recent posts.

Cosrx Triple C Lightning Liquid Serum

Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patches

July was quite a busy month of long days and late nights, which isn’t particular great for the body or my skin. This meant in July breakouts and pesky pimples made an unwanted appearance on my face. These Cosrx pimple patches really were a life saver and helped to keep my uninvited guests on my face in check!

No Make No Life July Subscription Box Review

No Make No Life (NMNL) is a Tokyo-based subscription box that delivers a monthly boxes of beauty related goodies ranging from skincare, makeup and more. This company are also the ones behind the Tokyo Treat and Yume Twins subscription boxes. The No Make No Life team aim to curate and deliver high-quality and unique Japanese beauty products that will help to improve your daily beauty routine. Each month’s box of  goodies are sent out in a simple black tough cardboard box with the brand initials “nmnl” printed on the top. I have now been subscribed to the No Make No Like boxes for a while now and really enjoy the surprised of discovering what I receive each month.

Now, time to have a look at what I received for the NMNL July box.

Profael Massage Jelly Pack

Profael Massage Jelly Pack

First up, I received the Profael Massage Jelly Pack which is an in-shower jelly pack that you apply to wet skin and rinse off to leave skin feeling soft, supple and well hydrated. I like the concept of an in-shower moisturiser as I’m very diligent with my face skincare routine but to be honest not quite as much when it comes to taking care of moisturising my body! I have tried an in-shower moisturiser before but didn’t quite like it, so was looking forward to trying this out to see if I would have a better experience. The Profael jelly pack is a clear gel that is a quite thick in texture but once applied to wet skin is easy to spread. I tried this out a couple of times already and not too sure if it really help to moisturise my skin. The gel did leave my skin feeling slightly more hydrated than when I didn’t apply this in the shower but my skin still felt quite dry and lacking moisture. I think it’s more suited for those with normal to oily skin or for use in Summer for a quick and light moisturisation. Though, for those like me with drier skin, this won’t nearly be enough to moisturise your skin. I couldn’t find the actual retail cost for this jelly pack but saw that it was selling online for $9.52AUD ($7.53USD).

Sweets Sweets Air Moisturising CC Cream

Sweets Sweets Air Moisturising CC Cream in 03 Peach

This Sweets Sweets CC Cream is a multipurpose base makeup product. It is meant to colour correct, conceal pores, moisturise and provide high sunscreen protection whilst also brightening your overall skin tone. The Sweets Sweets brand is actually a sister brand of Canmake, a popular drugstore beauty brand that sells lots of cute makeup products. I like that this has high SPF50+ rating which is always a huge plus for me. I haven’t really tested this out on my face yet but I tried it out on the back of my hand and didn’t quite like it. The colour I received was 03 Peach, which is a salmon pink colour. I love peach toned blushers but as a makeup base it didn’t quite look right for my skin tone. The CC cream did not feel moisturising and did not seem to colour correct or brighten my skin, and instead felt like it gave my skin a pinkish flushed colour I had just went for a run! I don’t see myself really using this, but I’ll be sure to update this when I test this on my face. This CC Cream was selling online for about $34USD which I definitely don’t think is the actual retail value in Japan.

June Favourites

June Favourites Skincare Makeup Accessories Flatlay

I know I’ve said this a few times already but wow, 2017 is really flying by and it’s already more than halfway through the year!  A new month means it’s time for a new monthly favourites – June Favourites. Here are some things that I loved in June.

Makeup

Innisfree Waterfit Cushion Foundation Case

Innisfree Waterfit Cushion Foundation Inside

Innisfree Water Fit Cushion

I tried this out for the first time last month and really enjoyed using this. It was light and gave me a “my skin but better” look. The Water Fit Cushion has a medium coverage but is buildable to a stronger coverage if desired. The cushion claims to give deep hydration, which it definitely does! I love that these Innisfree cushions have alot of custom cases to choose from and love the simple design of mine. This was actually given to me for my birthday this year by my aunt and cousin in a k-beauty package along with a lot of other makeup and skincare goodies. I’ll be posting a review of this at a later time.

Brigitte Japanese Brown Liquid Eyeliner

Brigitte Brown Liquid Eyeliner

This is another new product I began using in June and loved it! I actually got this eyeliner as a part of one of my previous No Make No Life boxes (the April box which I actually forgot to review, woops!). I love using liquid eyeliners as they are usually very opaque and easy to create sharp precise lines. I love that I received this eyeliner in brown as I find that black liquid eyeliners can sometimes be a bit too harsh and unnatural especially for use in day time. This Brigitte eyeliner is a nice dark brown, almost black but not too dark. I wore this eyeliner out for a full day, for more than 10 hours and during a concert.  And, even after wearing it for an entire day and lots of sweatiness from being stuck in a mosh pit the eyeliner didn’t budge. Although, the eyeliner from the inner corners of my eye had smudged away a bit. This tends to happen all the time for me as my double eyelids have a lot of creases, especially in the inner corners of my eyes, that results in eyeliner or eyeshadow rubbing off from the friction when I blink.

Travel Haul Part 1: Makeup

Travel Makeup Haul FlatlayI’ve finally come around to properly unpacking organising my travel haul and realised how much shopping I actually did! So my travel haul will be split in two parts, makeup and then skincare. I’ve always been a bit of a shopaholic and it didn’t help that there happened to be a lot of sales on whilst I was in Korea! Anyways, now on to the haul.

Makeup haul blushers and moreToo Cool For School Play Cheek Angel Blusher #02 Sweet Peach

I couldn’t resist getting this blusher as not only is the colour a lovely peachy coral blush with a slight shimmer but the case is equally adorable. The blusher comes in compact little case with a fluffy puff at the bottom so is perfect to pack in your makeup bag for touch-ups during the day! Also, the puff is removable so you are able to pull it off to clean it or swap out your dirty used puffs for a clean one if you’re not bothered to wash it!

April Skin Magic-Cara Long Lash & Skinny Mascara

Every mascara that I have used thus far has immediately restored my eyelashes back to its stick straight form right after applying it on my curled lashes. So, I’m still on the hunt for (and yet to find) a good mascara that can hold my short but thick eyelashes in a curl! I stumbled upon this two-step long lash mascara whilst browsing the April Skin products in store and decided to give this a try.

Innisfree No-Sebum Blur Primer

I decided to give this primer a try since I loved another product from this line, the Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder. To be honest Innisfree is one of my favourite k-beauty brands and there hasn’t really been a product that I have tried that I didn’t like!

Etude House Color My Brows Eyebrow Gel #03 Red Brown

I recently dyed (& bleached) my hair again so it is now a fair bit lighter so needed a lighter shade of eyebrow gel to match my hair as the one I currently have was for my previously darker hair colour.

The Saem Saemmul Eye Primer

After running out of my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion I was in store for a new eyeshadow primer so thought I’d give this a try, plus it was super cheap.

Review: Lily May Mac Collection Lipstick Satin Cream

Lily May Mac Lipstick Collection Satin Cream Flatlay Jewellery Accessories

Lily May Mac recently released her own line of lipsticks exclusively with Showpo and I was excited to try it out for myself. Her previous collaboration with 3CE x Lily May Mac collection was hugely popular and hyped about, and even sold out in multiple stores across Korea (be sure to look out for a review for the 3CE x Lily May Mac lipstick next month!).

Packaging

The lipstick comes in a pretty white box with metallic gold trim and looks simple yet classy. The lipstick case itself is made of a pale metallic gold plastic with ‘Lily May Mac collection” printed in a matte white colour around the case. I was a little disappointed with the lipstick packaging itself as it felt a little cheap and plastic especially in comparison to the 3CE x Lily May Mac that has a similar price tag yet still felt and looked high quality and premium .

Lipstick & jewellery flatlay

Also, on a side note, I was a little annoyed with how Showpo chose to package the goods for delivery as when my package arrived both the Lipstick boxes were quite squashed and damaged, one significantly more than the other. I’ve order makeup off multiple other online stores before and they at least lightly bubble wrap the goods to prevent it from getting crushed. The lipsticks were just placed into a large thin plastic satchel bag without anything to protect the lipsticks from sliding around and getting damaged during transit.
