I know I’ve said this a few times already but wow, 2017 is really flying by and it’s already more than halfway through the year! A new month means it’s time for a new monthly favourites – June Favourites. Here are some things that I loved in June.
I tried this out for the first time last month and really enjoyed using this. It was light and gave me a “my skin but better” look. The Water Fit Cushion has a medium coverage but is buildable to a stronger coverage if desired. The cushion claims to give deep hydration, which it definitely does! I love that these Innisfree cushions have alot of custom cases to choose from and love the simple design of mine. This was actually given to me for my birthday this year by my aunt and cousin in a k-beauty package along with a lot of other makeup and skincare goodies. I’ll be posting a review of this at a later time.
This is another new product I began using in June and loved it! I actually got this eyeliner as a part of one of my previous No Make No Life boxes (the April box which I actually forgot to review, woops!). I love using liquid eyeliners as they are usually very opaque and easy to create sharp precise lines. I love that I received this eyeliner in brown as I find that black liquid eyeliners can sometimes be a bit too harsh and unnatural especially for use in day time. This Brigitte eyeliner is a nice dark brown, almost black but not too dark. I wore this eyeliner out for a full day, for more than 10 hours and during a concert. And, even after wearing it for an entire day and lots of sweatiness from being stuck in a mosh pit the eyeliner didn’t budge. Although, the eyeliner from the inner corners of my eye had smudged away a bit. This tends to happen all the time for me as my double eyelids have a lot of creases, especially in the inner corners of my eyes, that results in eyeliner or eyeshadow rubbing off from the friction when I blink.
2017 is really flying by so quickly and it’s already the 2nd week of June, so a time for a new monthly favourites. It’s officially winter here in Sydney and the weather is getting quite chilly. Below are some things that have helped me to make it through this cooler weather. Winter is by far my least favourite season as I completely hate the cold! Now on to the favourites.
First up is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask which is a product that I’ve used since last year. I especially love using this during Winter as cooler weather tends to lead to dry skin and chapped lips, especially with all the hours spent sitting in front of a heater! This lip mask has been a completed life (or lip) saver.
I’ve always loved using the Innisfree Green Tea balancing cream but I thought I’d change it up and try something new. I heard lots of great things about the Orchid line products, and this cream was one of the raved about items. I finally came around to trying this out and completely see why it so well loved! The cream is super moisturising and has a subtle flowery smell that isn’t too overpowering. This cream is a bit on the heavier side and is more moisturising than the Green Tea cream so is better suited for use during winter months or for those with normal to dry skin types. After application, my skin feels soft, supple and very well moisturised.
Colder weather means dry flakey skin, at least for me, so this Neogen Bio Peel Gauze Peeling Pads in Wine have been my go to exfoliator to get rid of any dry patches on my face. I love these peeling pads as they help to exfoliate my skin yet isn’t too abbrasive so doesn’t irritate my skin. I love that the peeling pads are so full of essence that it is practically dripping which is awesome as it helps to add moisture back into the skin whilst I exfoliate.
This blusher is a beautiful coral peach shade that is fun, youthful and gives a nice subtle flushed looked. This blusher helps to brighten up the dull rainy winter days! I love that it looks really natural and is quite pigmented so I don’t need to apply much for the colour to show up on my cheeks.
I like to use this powder foundation on top of my BB cushion or BB cream on days I want some extra coverage. This shade matches my skin tone completely and blends in seemlessly. I also love that the coverage is buildable and doesn’t cake on my skin, so gives a very natural finish, and almost looks like I’m not wearing any makeup at all!
I have to admit I’m not really a morning person and find that I am always dragging my feet whilst getting ready for the day. That being said, I never forget to show my skin some love by applying a basic skincare routine at bare minimum because it’s always important to take care of your skin at any age to prevent signs of aging and protect your precious skin! In light of that, I thought I’d share with you my current morning skincare routine.
After washing my face, I like to follow up with a toner to make sure my face is well cleansed and ready for moisturising. I like to use the Mamonde Rose Water toneras it feels super refreshing, smells like a bouquet of fresh roses and helps to add moisture back into my skin!
That’s it for the cleansing part of my routine. Now on to moisturising. I love to spritz a generous amount of the Avene Thermal Spring Water spray to give my skin an extra boost of moisture before applying any other products.
Now time for some sun protection. My go-to face sunscreen at the moment is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Extreme Fluid sunscreenwhich like the name says, it a very watery sunscreen. I love to use this for my face as unlike other sunscreens it doesn’t leave a white cast on your face and because of the liquid consistency doesn’t feel heavy on the skin like many other sunscreens. But not to worry, the liquid consistency doesn’t make it any less effective at protecting your skin from the sun as it still has 50+ SPF!
I’ve finally come around to properly unpacking organising my travel haul and realised how much shopping I actually did! So my travel haul will be split in two parts, makeup and then skincare. I’ve always been a bit of a shopaholic and it didn’t help that there happened to be a lot of sales on whilst I was in Korea! Anyways, now on to the haul.
I couldn’t resist getting this blusher as not only is the colour a lovely peachy coral blush with a slight shimmer but the case is equally adorable. The blusher comes in compact little case with a fluffy puff at the bottom so is perfect to pack in your makeup bag for touch-ups during the day! Also, the puff is removable so you are able to pull it off to clean it or swap out your dirty used puffs for a clean one if you’re not bothered to wash it!
Every mascara that I have used thus far has immediately restored my eyelashes back to its stick straight form right after applying it on my curled lashes. So, I’m still on the hunt for (and yet to find) a good mascara that can hold my short but thick eyelashes in a curl! I stumbled upon this two-step long lash mascara whilst browsing the April Skin products in store and decided to give this a try.
I decided to give this primer a try since I loved another product from this line, the Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder. To be honest Innisfree is one of my favourite k-beauty brands and there hasn’t really been a product that I have tried that I didn’t like!
I recently dyed (& bleached) my hair again so it is now a fair bit lighter so needed a lighter shade of eyebrow gel to match my hair as the one I currently have was for my previously darker hair colour.
The first month of 2017 has now passed, so it’s time for a new (and my first!) monthly favourites! Be warned, this post is a little on the long side as there was a lot of things on my favourites list this month! So sit back and enjoy reading.
It’s been quite a hot month in Australia, with 30-40 degree weather and I’m currently in Singapore where it has been quite hot as well! So a lot of my favourites this month have helped me survive this summer heat!
I get pretty lazy to put on body lotion during Summer since I hate feeling sticky and greasy. So I loved to use this body mist when I’m in a rush to leave the house but feel my skin needs a moisture boost. This body mist moisturises my skin without leaving any oily residue. It also has a lovely fruity scent that isn’t too overpowering and fades within an hour.
The Sensi White Lotion, though called a lotion is actually very watery and clear in colour, almost like a toner but moisturising. I like to pour this into a travel sized mist bottle I bought from Daiso to use as a facial mist for when my face is feeling dry. The lotion also works very well as a toner and manages to remove any remaining makeup that wasn’t removed with your makeup remover.
Before buying this toner, I heard lots of great review about how great it is. I was slightly hesitant to try it myself as I’ve never been much of a fan of anything rose – scented or flavoured. I was pleasantly surprised though as I have now completely fallen in love with this toner! The rose scent isn’t too overpowering and is actually quite soothing. The bottle I bought is actually the large 500ml one but it also comes in a smaller version too. After cleansing, I like to pour a small amount onto a cotton pad and swipe over my face. The toner adds back some moisture to my face and helps me to relax before bed as the scent is so calming.
