Review: [JOLSE] Olivarrier Dual Moist Toning Lotion 180mL

I always love trying out new beauty products and brands, and was excited that I was lucky enough to be chosen by Jolse to review the Olivarrier Dual Moist Toning Lotion. I had seen posts on my Instagram of Olivarrier products before and heard lots of great things about them but had never tried them before. Their products have been on my ‘To-try’ list for a while now so I was very glad I got this opportunity to test out this toning lotion.

What is the Olivarrier Dual Moist Toning Lotion?

The Olivarrier Dual Moist Toning Lotion is a moisturising toner that will purify the skin whilst also providing deep moisturisation. This product also has a weak acid based pH level of 5.5 so won’t irritate the skin.

The toner comes in a simple grey and white plastic bottle with a screw on lid. I like the minimalistic and monochrome design. Even though the bottle is plastic it doesn’t feel or look cheap at all. The small opening of the bottle makes it easy to poor out the perfect amount, not too much or too little!

How to Use

I like to use this toning lotion in two different ways depending on my skin condition for that day. The main way I use it is as a toner by pouring some onto a cotton pad and swiping it over my skin as a part of my final cleansing step before skincare to lightly exfoliate and remove any excess dirt or sebum. Secondly, when my skin is feeling in need of some extra hydration I like to pour some into the palm of my hands and pat it into my skin like I would with an essence.

The formula for this product is free of fragrances, colouring agents and chemical preservatives (e.g. parabens).  I love when products are free of all those nasties especially when you are applying it to your face which has very delicate and sensitive skin! I think it’s really great that there isn’t any fragrances as a lot of skincare products tend to have them and I know many people who end up not being able to use a product because the scent was just too strong.

The toner is a clear liquid that looks and also has the consistency of water. If applying the toner as an essence make sure to cup your hands so you don’t drip it all over the floor. The toner feels lightweight, moisturising, and cleanses my skin whilst leaving it feeling really soft, supple and hydrated. That being said, I didn’t see any magical or special results. It basically is a moisturising toner that doesn’t irritate the skin. The toner has a slightly acidic pH of 5.5 that matches well with the skin’s natural barrier called the acid mantle. The acid mantle helps to retain moisture in the skin whilst also protecting it from pollutants, toxins, bacteria and germs. Our skin’s acid mantle pH is naturally around 5.5 so this product is compatible and matches well with our skin so it won’t strip away the skin’s natural oils.

Final Thoughts

Overall I really liked using this toning lotion, and would consider purchasing this in the future. It is a great toner especially for those with sensitive and dry skin who want to have a toner that cleanses the skin well without irritating or drying it out. The toning lotion is moisturising and leaves the skin feeling soft but it isn’t particular special or groundbreaking. This was my first product from Olivarrier and definitely left me with a good impression of the brand. I look forward to trying out some of their other products as well.
