Review: Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel Review

I received the Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel from Style Korean a couple of weeks ago along with a few other skincare products shown in my Style Korean Skincare Haul post.  It has been a while now since I started using it so thought it was a good time to do a review.

What is the Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel?

The Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel is for all skin types including those with sensitive and troubled skin. The aloe gel contains 80% Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice that is rich in polysaccharides (helps to hydrate and retain moisture in the skin) and 10% Propolis Extract (known to have soothing properties). I love that this Benton Aloe Gel uses natural extracts and natural preservatives, and is free of alcohol, water, parabens, mineral oil and other harmful ingredients.

Packaging

The Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel comes in a nice clean and simple matte white box with all text printed in dark green. The container itself that holds the gel itself is a dark green soft plastic 100mL squeeze tube with a black cap and nozzle tip. I like the clean and minimalistic design of the packaging. The squeeze tube makes it easy to dispense the aloe gel.

Formula

The aloe gel is a clear coloured gel, not green, so yay to no artificial colouring. The gel is also fragrance-less. The slight scent of the gel I think comes naturally from the aloe juice, and fades away very quickly after applied to the skin. In terms of the texture, it is a very lightweight gel that absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any oily or sticky feeling. The aloe gel also helps to soothe and calm the skin.

I found that on its own, the gel wasn’t moisturising enough for my drier skin as after application it still felt like it was slightly lacking moisture. I like to use this as a part of my morning skincare routine after using the Cosrx One Step Moisture Up Pads to make sure my skin is well hydrated. I love that it has a cooling feeling when applied to the skin which I find refreshing and helps to wake me up in the mornings.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I really liked using the Benton Aloe Gel as it is a good calming gel that helps to soothe dry skin but on its own it wasn’t enough to moisturise my skin. This Aloe Gel would definitely make for a good Summer moisturiser because of its lightweight feel. I can definitely see myself using this more during Summer time.

For those with dry or sensitive skin, this aloe gel is a good way to calm and soothe any skin irritations. Although, you would probably need to use this with another product before or after since it isn’t moisturising enough as a standalone moisturiser.

For those with oily to combination skin, this would be great to use since it is very light and doesn’t leave any sticky or oily feeling on the skin.

Pros

  • Lightweight gel
  • Quickly absorbs into the skin
  • Fragrance free and colourless
  • Calming and soothing

Cons:

  • Not moisturising enough for drier skin types

Rating

4/5

  1. I have a similar aloe vera gel and I agree that it’s not that hydrating itself, I see it more like a gel to use over my skin when it’s irritated, it soothes it immediately 🙂 xx
